ZCMS Student Attends Top Chef Event!

Top Chef International, an event allowing 6th and 7th grade girls from area schools to experience other cultures by creating and then enjoying representative foods, took place Saturday, Feb. 24, from 9 a.m. to noon at Woodlands Academy of the Sacred Heart in Lake Forest.

ZCMS student Breanna Knight joined Mr. Steve, the all-girls college preparatory high school’s chef, to cook dishes from around the world and, in the process, learn new cooking skills to share with family and friends. Students learned how to steam or fry mushroom wontons, made a chicken stir fry, and made desserts.  The chef did a demonstration on how to make caramel and then taught the students about tempering chocolate in order to make it "crack."  The students were able to practice this new skill by making chocolate dipped strawberries.

Breanna shared, "Cooking chicken was easier than I thought.  It was really fun, a great experience!"
