Hi District 6 Families and Staff,

I hope this message finds you enjoying a well-deserved relaxing summer. Everyone at the district office is working hard to prepare to welcome everyone back next month. I want to share some important news for the upcoming 2021-2022 school year. The Centers for Disease Controls (CDC) and the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) have shared updated guidance on safety protocols for schools.

The Guidance for COVID-19 Prevention in K-12 Schools highlights several important health and safety protocols. Key recommendations include face coverings, social distancing, screenings and other prevention strategies. These recommendations will help us revise our COVID-19 health and safety policies as we prepare to welcome everyone back to in-person learning.

Last year was the most challenging many of us in education have ever experienced, and it was equally hard on our students and families. District 6 was one of the few school districts in this country who opened schools during the 2020-2021 school year while at the same time offering families a remote learning option. Looking forward, we will continue to strengthen our connections with students and families in the upcoming school year.

Please enjoy the rest of your summer break. We will continue to share more information as we approach the first day of school.

Sincerely,

Dr. Keely Roberts
Superintendent
