On Saturday, May 15,the Morton Arboretum partnered with District 6 to continue the "Planting for the Future" project. We planted almost 40 new oak trees across our school sites. Volunteers were taught proper tree planting techniques that would promote healthier tree growth.

Donations from Saint Demetrio's Church
Saint Demetrio's Makes Donations for D6 McKinney-Vento Students

In March, District 6 received donations from Saint Demetrio's Church for our McKinney-Vento students.Our McKinney-Vento students, are our children and youth who are experiencing homelessness. These wonderful donations included nonperishable foods, toiletries, and clothes. Almost every family was able to come to the District Office to pick-up their donations.

The Zion D6 staff had the grand opportunity to get the first dosage of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine. This was made available for essential workers through Walgreens' Point of Distribution (POD) initiative. We value our staff and ultimately desire the best health benefits they can receive.

We have officially distributed 100 “D6 at Home Kits” to our District 6 families! Thank you to everyone who helped make this happen. Many of us have adjusted to remote work during the last few months and we understand how important a designated learning workspace is for our students whether they attend school remotely (“Clicks”) or in-person (“Bricks”).

This past Saturday, December 5th, the City of Zion Illinois Police Department held Shop With a Cop at Walmart Zion. There were over a dozen police officers (elves) helping our students pick out gifts this year. Each student received $25 for every person in their families and themselves.
