Virtual Field Trips

Many of our District 6 students have yet to learn of the world outside of their hometown of Zion. Therefore, District 6 has begun a quest to take their students on a journey across the world via Zoom.

Students will take-off down the runway of Waukegan International Airport (via Zoom), as they read “Touch the Sky” by Captain Barrington Irving. They will then color people Purple as Kristen Bell (of Frozen), and her partner, read students “The World Needs More Purple People.” As they continue their flight, girls will learn that they are “Enough,” from Hollywood Actress and Author, Grace Byers, who appears on Empire and Chicago PD.

As the year progresses, students will visit even more places, such as Florence, NC, Washington D.C., Houston TX., and more. Yes, the world is bigger than Zion, IL. Fly with us on our journey as we travel to a different location each month; recording each and every adventure in our Diary.

See below for a full list of the books being read by our students, along with the authors students will get to chat with via Zoom during a live question and answer session. Many of the authors are even renowned actors and famous explorers.

In the midst of turmoil, District 6 is rising like a Phoenix. We are inviting you to follow our ‘Diary of 2020’ and rise with us!
