Board of Education Seat Open for Zion Elementary School District 6

The Zion Elementary School District 6 announces an open seat for the Board of Education. This opening is due to a Board of Education member’s recent resignation and will be filled by appointment. The appointee will serve until the April 2019 election, at which the remainder of the vacancy term will be filled.

Interested candidates may pick up an application in the Superintendent’s Office located at District Administrative Office, 2800 29th Street, Zion, IL between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm Monday through Thursday beginning July 25, 2018.  Applications are due to the Superintendent’s Office no later than August 7, 2018. Candidate interviews with the Board of Education are tentatively scheduled for Monday, August 13,, 2018.  The Board of Education is tentatively scheduled to seat the new board member at the Regular Board Meeting on Monday, August 20, 2018. 

To be eligible to serve, a school board member must be on the date of appointment, a United States citizen, at least 18 years of age, a resident of Illinois and the District for at least one year immediately preceding the appointment, and a registered voter.  Please note that certain factors or events may legally disqualify a person from serving on the Board. Reasons making an individual ineligible for Board membership include, but are not limited to, holding an incompatible office and certain types of State or federal employment.  A child sex offender, as defined in State law, is ineligible for Board of Education membership.
